Our Farm-To-Bottle Process
Our Farm-to-Bottle Process: A Journey of Care and Craftsmanship
At the heart of our skincare line is a deep commitment to quality, purity, and the wisdom of nature. From the moment we plant the first seed to the final step of bottling, each stage of our process is guided by a respect for the plants and a passion for creating truly natural skincare products. Here’s how we do it:
1. Planting the Seed
Every product begins with a seed—literally. We carefully select and start the seeds of the plants that will eventually become the core ingredients of our line. Depending on the plant, this may happen in our greenhouse or directly in the soil. Each seed is nurtured with the intention of cultivating the highest quality ingredients for your skincare.
2. Nurturing the Plants
Some plants, like lavender and white sage, require months of careful attention before they’re ready to be planted in the ground. During this time, we tend to them diligently, ensuring they receive the right amount of water, light, and care to thrive. Once they’re strong enough, they’re transplanted into the fields, where we continue to nurture them through weeding, watering, and maintaining their environment.
3. Harvesting at Peak Potency
We harvest our plants only when they’ve reached their peak—when they’re at their ripest and most potent form. After harvesting, each plant is gently washed to remove any debris, preparing it for the next crucial step in our process.
4. The Art of Curing
Unlike many others, we don’t use dehydrators to dry our plants. Instead, we rely on the traditional art of curing. This slower, more deliberate process preserves the plant’s benefits, color, and aroma. Dehydration can strip plants of their potency, but curing retains the essence and effectiveness of each herb. It’s a longer process, but we believe it’s worth the wait.
5. Infusion: Capturing the Plant’s Essence
Once the plants are fully cured, we begin the infusion process. We immerse the dried herbs in oils and butters, allowing them to steep for a minimum of six weeks. This slow infusion method ensures that the plants’ properties are fully extracted, enriching the oils and butters with their beneficial qualities. This is where the slogan "Slow Farm-made Skincare" stems from.
6. Straining the Infusion
After the infusion period, we carefully strain the oils and butters using cheesecloth. This step removes the plant material, leaving behind only the pure, nutrient-rich oils infused with the essence of the herbs.
7. Crafting the Final Product
With the infused oils in hand, we move on to the creation of our products. Each product is crafted differently depending on its purpose. For our soaps, we blend the infused oils with other natural ingredients. For our face creams, we lightly heat the oils, cool them, and then mix them to achieve the perfect consistency. Every product is made with intention and care, ensuring it delivers maximum benefits.
8. Bottling and Labeling
Finally, we bottle each product and label it, ready to be sent to you. This last step might seem simple, but it’s the culmination of months of work, dedication, and respect for the natural ingredients we’ve grown and nurtured.
At the core of our process is a belief in the power of whole plant matter. We don’t take shortcuts, and we don’t rely on essential oils alone. Instead, we embrace the full spectrum of benefits that come from using the entire plant, offering you skincare products that are as effective as possible through sustainable practices.
